Day 30: The Byzantine Empire is Coming! (9/30/2011)

Aim: The historians of 2017 will be able to take detailed Cornell notes from a presentation on the Byzantine Empire.

1. Submit your homework: If you already submitted your homework online, you do not have to submit it again.


3. Make a copy of this document. We will be using this to keep track all the history badges you've earned and which you have yet to unlock.

4. Complete your popplet and post it to your portfolio. Track Mr. Sanders as he introduces you to the Byzantine Empire. We will be watching a clip from YouTube to get us excited for our lesson on Monday.

5. Track the board as we watch CNN Student News.

Homework: Complete the event description and illustration form. The homework is on paper only.

Day 29: Quiz on the Roman Empire (9/28/2011)


Aim: The historians of 2017 will demonstrate their mastery of key concepts of the Roman Empire. In order to earn the achievement badge for each category, the students will need to answer four out of five questions correctly for each of the topics.

Technology Goal: The historians of 2017 will create a popplet account and create their first popplet summarizing the information on the Roman Empire.

1. Submit your homework. If you already completed your homework online, you do not have to submit it again.

2. Quick Question: Track me and wait for directions before you start the quick question. Today it will be done a little differently. In your opinion, what is the best way to study for a test?

3. Take your quiz on the Roman Empire (a new post will become available when its time to take the quiz).

4. Go to popplet.com and create an account using your class e-mail address and password. Track Mr. Sanders as he shows you how to create a popplet.

5. Add three or more thought bubbles to each of your Roman Empire main ideas on your popplet. Make sure you save it before loggin out.

Homework: Complete the pre-reading activity and the questions for the Byzantine empire so that you're ready for us to start our next unit tomorrow.

Day 28: Virtual Gallery Walk (9/26/2011)

AIM: The junior historians of 2017 will be able to use their teammates presentations to learn about different aspects of the Roman Empire (day 2).

Key Points:
1. The Roman Empire lasted for hundreds of years.
2. The Roman Empire started in Rome and grew into a large empire.
3. The Roman Empire collapsed for more than one
reason.
4. There are three major social levels in the Roman Empire.
5. The Roman Empire influenced many cultures in many ways.

Technology Learning Goal: The historians of 2017 will be able to review and write comments in Blogger.

1. Submit your homework here. If you already completed your homework online, you do not have to submit it again.


3. Make a copy of this graphic organizer (some of you already created a copy on Friday) and complete the information as you visit the history portfolios of your teammates. Make sure you leave a positive comment on each history portfolio that you visit.
