Day 59: Welcome to the Scientific Revolution (5/31/11)

Standard: 7.10.2: Understand the significance of the new scientific theories and the significance of new inventions.

Aim: The historians of 2016 will be able to identify the discoveries of Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo and Newton and explain their significance to the Scientific Revolution.

Task 1: Submit your homework (current event). If you already submitted your current event, you do not have to submit it again.

Task 2 Quick Question: During Medieval Times people looked to the church for knowledge. Later, many discoveries in science contradicted the churches teachings. How do you think discoveries in science will affected the POWER of the church?

Task 3: Watch Turning Points in History: The Scientific Revolution

Task 4: Complete a chart listing the accomplishments of each of the four scientists.

Task 5: Choose a scientist from your chart. Create a Prezi about the scientist using the Prezi Planning Sheet and rubric to guide your work.

Homework: Read about Copernicus and Kepler and their view of the universe and complete the workbook page.
