Day 3: The Human Timeline (8/17/2011)

Key Points:

1. Space between events on a timeline should represent the length of time between.

2. We use BCE and CE to classify events.

3. Events happened before and after the year zero.

Objective: The junior historians of 2017 will be able to create a human timeline with historical events. The distance between events will represent the time between each event.

Task 1: Take out your homework and complete the do now.

Task 2: Track the video about the history of technology in education. After the video we will review the concept of 0 and how it relates to BCE and CE.

Task 3: Track Mr. Sanders as he explains the directions for the human timeline activity. Using your problem solving skills, create a human timeline in the hallway. Each of you will have an event and you need to line up chronologically. The distance between each person needs to reflect the time that passed between those two events.

Task 4: Participate in the post timeline summarizing activity.

Task 5: Complete the personal timeline activity. The directions for the assignment are on the handout.

Homework: Complete your illustrated timeline.
