Day 119: Mayan Review (3/22/12)

7.7.2. Standard: Study the roles of people in each society, including class structures, family life, warfare, religious beliefs and practices, and slavery.

Aim: The historians of 2017 will be able to create a mind map demonstrating their knowledge of Mayan social structure, daily life, and religious practices.

1. Submit your homework here.

2. Tweet storm: Tweet out one question based on the one of the readings that we did this week. After you tweet your question, answer two or more questions that your teammates posted by replying to their tweet. Make sure you use the hashtag #ksfb7 in your tweets so we can easily track what you're writing.

Remember, everything you're writing is 100% public, make sure you're using proper grammar, punctuation, and the tweet accurately represents who you are as a student.

3. Read this section of text and complete the post reading reflection.

4. Create a Popplet for all your learnings on the Mayans. Use the textbook pages that we read for homework this week as a guide for all the information. Post your completed Popplet to your history portfolio.

If Popplet isn't working for you, you need to create the mind map using Google Draw! No excuses. Let me know if you need help using it.

Here is an idea of what your Popplet can look like. You might need more details for each of the categories.

5. We will take a quiz on the Mayans. Make sure you spend some time reviewing the important information from all the readings that we did in class this week.

The bonus question on the quiz will be, 'explain what the number 13.0.0.0 means in the mayan calendar.' The better the response, the more extra credit points you will receive.

Homework: For your spring break work, you need to go online and check the website. The Spring Break assignment will be posted by the end of day on Monday.

Notes: Go back and make sure you've completed all the tasks from earlier in the week. Quarter three is ending and you will not have time to make up any of these assignments before your quarter three report card.

Check out this book report a student put together on the Mayan culture. Start thinking about what you'll want to create for your final project for our Mesoamerica unit.
