Day 18: Special 9/11 Lesson (9/8/2011)

Key Points:
1. In 2001, terrorists hijacked four large airplanes and attacked the United States.
2. The World Trade Center in New York was hit by two airplanes and collapsed.
3. 2985 people died as a result of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
4. How people view civil liberties and security changed after 9/11.
5. The United States is currently involved in two wars as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

AIM: The junior historians of 2017 will be to articulate how 9/11 changed how many people view the world.

Task 1: Submit your homework here.

Task 2 Quick Question: What do you know about the terrorist attacks of September 11 (9/11)? What do you think of when people say 9/11 terrorist attacks? What is a terrorist? Please answer two or more of these questions using complete sentences.

Task 3: When you finish the quick question, assign your self by reading about one more of these other surprise attacks that also changed world history.

Task 4: Track Mr. Sanders as he talks about the attacks of 9/11 with the help of the coverage from the day and participate in the discussion.
