Day 108: West Africa History & Video Creation! (3/2/2011)

Standard: 7.4.5. Describe the importance of written and oral traditions in the transmission of African history and culture.

Aim: The historians of 2017 will be able to complete their West Africa video presentations and turn in the link. Those interested in sharing more will embed their video on their history portfolio.

1. New lunch process. I will pass out the papers and we will quickly review the new lunch system.

3. Complete and turn in yesterday's video project. You can turn in the link to your video here. Please go back and review all the directions for the assignment and make sure you're turning in your best work!

4. Extra Credit: You're going to be creating a silent movie! Open the website here and give your movie a title (Medieval West Africa), then add 10 or more full-sentence, captions to your movie! Each caption needs to describe Medieval West Africa for your audience. Your captions can be about the Empire of Ghana, the Kingdom of Mali, or anything you learned about West African cultural traditions.

Here are a few example captions you can have in your movie:

To earn the extra credit, you need to submit the link to your silent movie here.

5. If we have extra time, we're going to watch today's episode of CNN Student News.
