Day 134: Cartoons & History (4/20/2012)

Standard: 7.7.1. Study the locations, landforms, and climates of Mexico, Central America, and South America and their effects on Mayan, Aztec, and Incan economies, trade, and development of urban societies.

Aim: The historians of 2017 will be able to analyze a Disney cartoon and conclude when elements of the cartoon are historically accurate and which are not.

1. Submit your homework here.

2.

Watch the first two minutes of this clip. What about the clip would be historically plausible (possible) for a young man in an upper class family growing up in the Incan capital?  What might be historically inaccurate?

3. Write a tumblr post reflecting on everything you learned in class this week.  There should be at least one sentence for each of the days.  After you post it to your history portfolio, copy the text of the post and submit it here.

4. We will watch and discuss this week's episode of CNN Student News.

5. Take a careful look at your gradebook and make sure all of the assignments are turned in. If possible, complete any missing work over the weekend and complete the missing work form so we know to go and check it.

Homework: Complete a new current event for Monday.  We will have our weekly quiz on the Aztec and Incas on Monday!

Finished early? If you have extra time, you can go to your Google Reader account or check out some of the YouTube EDU videos of the week.
