Day 146: Introduction to Medieval Japan (5/14/2012)


Aim: The historians of 2017 will research and create a list of topics and events about medieval Japan that we'll be able to use to prioritize our medieval Japan unit.

1: Answer the Quick Question in with Google Moderator
If you were there… “You live in a small farming village on one of the islands of Japan. You’re very happy with your life. The sea is nearby and food is plentiful. You have a large, extended family to protect and take care of you. Your grandmother says that life in your village has not changed for hundreds of years, and that is good. But now you have heard that some people from across the sea are coming to your village. They are bringing new ideas and ways of doing things. Explain how you would feel about these possible changes."
2.  Fact dig.  Today your mission is to search the internet and find important topics and events (10 or more) all pertaining to medieval Japan (500 C.E. - 1500 C.E.).  Please use this graphic organizer to complete keep track of all the information.

3.  Turn in your internet hunt on medieval Japan here.

4. Tweet out the most interesting piece of information your learned from the internet hunt. Then, retweet the thing that you find the most interesting.

Homework: Read about the geography of Japan and early Japan and complete the learning reflection.  There will be a reading quiz based on this information.
