Day 3: Getting Comfortable with Google (2/9/11)


Aim: The historians of 2016 will be able to set up a Google reader account and subscribe to four or more RSS feeds with 100% accuracy.

Do Now: In the comment section below describe the rise and fall of the Tang dynasty. Please use at least three complete sentences. If you need more information about the dynasty, you can read about it here.

Step 1: Follow along with Mr. Sanders as he shows you the different parts to your Gmail account.

Step 2: Add the following bookmarks to your computer:
  • Mr. Sanders' blog
  • KAO's website
  • KIPP LA's website
  • The British Museum
  • The Louvre Museum Website
  • CNN
  • LA Times
Step 3: Add all your teachers to your contacts. Go to the KIPP KAO website to get their information. Teachers: Mr. Luna (lluna@kippla.org), Mr. Sanders (jsanders@kippla.org), Ms. Hernandez (lhernandez@kippla.org), Mr. Piazza (apiazza@kippla.org), Mr. Jutabha (mjutabha@kippla.org), and Ms. Kavanagh (ykavanagh@kippla.org).

Step 4: Track Mr. Sanders as he demonstrates how to set up a Google reader account. When you finish, you can read some news stories from your Google Reader account or start your homework.

Add these news subscriptions to your Google Reader:

  2. The tang dynasty rose when peasants were uprising against the sui dynasty. It continued to grow with wealth and size. The tang dynasty became to worried and concerned about building the capitol, and the military became weaker.

  3. The Tang dynasty came into power after the Sui dynasty was overthrown by peasants. They had a strong government and took in control lots of land very easily. The Tang dynasty fell because they put many resources into building their capital and in result received a weak military and eventually fell.

  12. the tang dynasty grew a lot because they made the government take a hard exam so they know they are talented.also they were very good in trading because they created lots of new roads and waterways which helped them trade new things.the empire fell because they did not try to help the outside places like military so when they were fought they did not have a good military and they were overthrown.

  29. Ruled by Li Yuan in 618 A.D. the Tang dynasty grew.Tai Cong, his son, was able to maintain the large kingdom because of the strong central government. To make sure people who were talented were used in government and just so you can be a part of the government, the people took test. Trade was good but outlying provinces wee diminishing causing poverty.The military became weaker.The dynasty was later overthrown because of this.
